Now onto exciting things to look forward to:
Top of my wishlist for 2013 is definitely a DSLR camera to replace my beloved D90 (loyal, unfailing: RIP my dear). The Fuji X100 (Ken Rockwell review) is like a dream, but falls out of budget. Realistically I'd much love the combination of a good ol' Nikon FE (review) - love that slick all-black metal body - and a D7000 (review), per girlfriend E's suggestion. I don't think my skills or needs justify a full-frame, and to be honest I'm even considering a D5200/5100 or D3100 as more... economical options. Which camera to get for 2013 under 1000 bucks? What do you think?
Since making wishes does not require a budget, I will continue to dream about ONA bags. Seriously it makes the best-looking camera bags I've ever seen. I love the whole line of their products, with the cognac Chelsea being my favourite. It's made for a lady, and hides an extra compartment for a netbook/iPad. If extra storage room is not required, I would go to the Brooklyn for the perfect travel companion. If 300 USD for a bag is not a problem for you, guys and girls (the leather Brixton is THE camera bag for gents), go check it out now and you'll thank/curse me depending on whether you can afford them. ;p
The rest of the list includes:
- A clutch, or just a small to mid-sized bag that is not green/emerald (I strangely have had green handbags for several years in a row now)
- Knee-high brown boots, TOMS, and more flats, because you can always use an extra pair
- Red nail polish
- Silk tops, preferably colourful/patterned, for semi-formal occasions/looking pretty at times
- Well-fitted pencil skirts
- Topshop MOTO petite jeans (a very specific one because I've wished for them since 2008)
- Big chunky knitwear
My self-explanatory fashion-related resolutions aside, here's a quote that I'd like to share:
If you wish to travel far and fast, travel light. Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness and fears. --- Cesare Pavese
To a new year of travelling, to places you've never been, to places you've always wanted to be; of going the distance, alone or with company, with strength and belief, with love and hope. (I have just watched Les Misérables. I feel like I'm beaming with hope and aspirations now.)

Hey there!!! Thanks a lot for your comment on your blog. I love reading what my readers have to say. I'm glad that you spent time in Auckland. How long were you here for? It's a good place to visit if you know people. :) Hope you enjoyed your time in my country. Hope to read you again soon. Happy New Year!!! :)
ReplyDelete2 weeks? I was on a study abroad program over the summer - a shame that I was too young to travel alone back then. Still, it was my first foray out of a light-polluted city and I remember clearly walking under a star-filled sky in awe. Loved it :) Happy new year!
DeleteGrace,
ReplyDeleteI love your cute vintage style! My recommendation for a camera is to buy refurbished from amazon; that's what I did, and you can get a very good like-new camera for up to $300 off the market price. And you're right, it's really hard to blog without a proper camera!
Looking forward to more stylish posts:)

Hey Danielle thanks for dropping by! :) Ooo I'll keep that in mind! For now I'm settling with my sister's iPhone and my mum's Sony NEX-5N (family resources, hah!) - we'll see how that goes... Which model/make is yours?
DeleteHey there,
ReplyDeleteThat's definitely a good idea to bypass the Fuji X100 camera. One of my best friends got it (she's a sucker for cameras with such a classy, vintage bod :P), but she ended up selling it on eBay because it was a bit too complicated and not up to par with her previous cameras. And oh gosh, those Ona camera bags look amazing. Knee high brown boots are always a great investment. :)
I really like your blog! Hope we can keep in touch~

Hey Xixia, thanks for visiting and I'm glad to hear you like it! :) and dang-it for the Fuji X100! Well, guess it's not that much of a loss then - thanks for the consoling knowledge :p Incidentally I did buy a pair of knee high brown boots off eBay (eBay - where everything happens...) but the size didn't quite fit so I'm sad :( Do you have a good pair/brand to recommend? esp. for petite height... *ahem*
